What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle , non-invasive holistic therapy that promotes healing, pain relief and general body re-balancing. It was re-discovered at the end of the 19th century by Dr. Mikeo Usui in Japan. From there it was taken to America and Europe and is now used all over the world. Reiki is not a manipulative therapy, it is a complementary healing therapy, having a calming and soothing effect. It should only be used in conjunction with and not as an alternative to proper medical care. Under no circumstances would we prescribe or alter any medication.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki works like a thermostat that regulates the body. During a Reiki treatment, both the Reiki practitioner and the recipient may feel Reiki sensations. A practitioner's hands will often heat up as a result of the flow coursing through the palms.

Reiki works on different levels, the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, enhancing everything in life. One of the greatest Reiki healing health benefits is stress reduction and relaxation, which is said to trigger the body's natural healing abilities (immune system), which in turn aids in better sleep, helping to improve and maintain health.

What can I expect during a treatment?

A full treatment usually takes between 45 minutes to an hour. On your first visit you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire detailing any pre-existing medical conditions and any current medication. Gentle music is played throughout  and you can either lie on the treatment couch, or remain sitting in a chair whilst light finger pressure is applied either on or just above, certain points of your body.

Where can I go for  Reiki healing?

Mainly I offer Reiki treatment from home, in Ackla but for clients with mobility problems I can make home visits in the local area if preferred.

Of course I also treat animals and they can be  seen in their own home or yard ( for horses).

Please contact me for further details or if you would like to discuss any aspect of Reiki in a little more detail.

Look forward to hearing from you.
