Created by the Native American Indians, deamcatchers were originally designed  to protect their sleeping children. According to legend, the Indians believed that the night air was filled with dreams, both good & bad, but that both were attracted to these 'sacred hoops' as  dreamcatchers were once called.

Whereas bad dreams would get stuck in the centre, good dreams were able to work their way down, through the beads & feathers to the sleeping person beneath.

And in the morning, when the first rays of sunlight would filter through the cracks in the teepee, (or nowadays the curtains)  & land on the dream catcher the bad dreams would simply melt away in the sunlight & be gone forever.
